The Iris ND-200 is the biggest guitar the company builds, a jumbo named after Nick Durkee, the first builder Iris hired. A 17 inch lower bout and 25.5 inch scale move a great deal of air, which is where the volume and projection come from, with powerful bass under a clear and pronounced midrange. This one pairs a Sitka spruce top with cocobolo back and sides rather than the standard mahogany - a dense, oily relative of rosewood that brightens the top end and puts a harder edge on the bass. It handles rhythmic strumming and intricate fingerpicking equally well and has no trouble filling a room. Finished in burst. Built by hand in Burlington, Vermont.
