The Iris DF is a slope-shouldered dreadnought inspired by the Depression-era instruments that came out of Kalamazoo in the 1930s, named after Iris co-founder Dale Fairbanks. Built by hand in Burlington, Vermont, the DF pairs a Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides and scalloped Adirondack spruce bracing, delivering a warm, punchy voice with vintage character. Its 25" scale length and 1-11/16" nut width give it a comfortable, relaxed playing feel, while the bolt-on mortise and tenon neck joint ensures a solid connection and easy serviceability. Finished in an open-pore natural satin nitrocellulose lacquer with tortoise binding and pickguard, the DF captures the look and soul of a well-loved pre-war flattop without pretending to be anything other than a modern, thoughtfully crafted instrument.
