Meinl 13" Rope Tuned Headliner Series Wood Djembe - Artifact Series
SKU: HDJ17-XLThe Headliner Series Artifact Djembe from Meinl is a rope-tuned drum that brings together traditional West African craftsmanship and striking visual character. Each shell is hand-carved from a single piece of plantation-grown mahogany, giving it a rich, warm tone with strong bass, open tones, and crisp slaps. The 13" playing surface features a hand-selected goatskin head that responds naturally across a wide dynamic range, while the Mali-weave tuning system with pre-stretched nylon rope provides reliable tension and easy adjustment. The aged natural finish and hand-carved black-painted motifs give this djembe a distinctive, organic look that sets it apart from factory-produced instruments. Whether used in drum circles, classroom settings, or on stage, it delivers an authentic playing experience rooted in tradition.
A Note on Natural Skin Heads
This instrument has a genuine goatskin head, so no two are exactly alike. Natural variations in color, spots, and grain are normal, and the head will often darken, discolor, or pick up light marks over time from playing, handling, and changes in humidity. These changes are part of the character of a natural skin and are not a defect.
