The Blaggard is Gordon Smith's read on the bolt-on single-cut — simple, bright, loud and built to work. A lightweight Obeche body keeps it under 7lbs, and a maple neck with a vintage-tint maple fingerboard, a vintage T-style tray bridge and a pair of hand-wound Higham Honk pickups deliver the cut and spank that recipe is known for. The crazed nitrocellulose finish and GOTOH Relic hardware give it a played-in feel from the first day rather than the tenth year. Finished here in Vintage Burst; left-handed orders carry a 12-week build time.
Gordon Smith have been building electric guitars in England since 1974, when Gordon Whitham and John Smith started the company; the brand now sits within the Auden Musical Instrument Company, whose team has taken production on with fresh investment in tooling and people.
