The proprietary VLM (Very Low Mass) diaphragm responds faster than standard dynamic capsules, capturing the natural transient detail and harmonic complexity of guitar amps, snare drums, percussion, brass, and acoustic guitar with the clarity engineers chase from much more expensive condensers. The tight cardioid pattern and frequency response tailored for instrument sources deliver excellent rejection of bleed from other stage sources, making the i5 a serious working-engineer alternative to the Shure SM57 at a comparable price point.
