Up front, I’ve known Ken Steffey (owner of Corzic) for 11 years as a co-worker, not knowing his side gig was as a Sound Guy, his goal: to make musicians sound their best. I also didn’t know he later started Corzic Music, a premium musical instrument company whose goal is to make musicians sound their best. Ken asked me to join them at the Nashville Sing! Conference and then check out their storefront in Orlando.
To say I was blown away is understating it.
The Sing! Conference is the Getty’s Worship Symposium, which had invited
I was expecting three walls with instruments hanging on them in a self-contained booth. It was so much more. There were six walls wrapped around an open space that had a keyboard and drum set, microphones, and pickups for electric instruments, where anyone who wanted to could sit down and play as a group. Guitarists, bassists, drums, keyboard, violins, occasionally flutists, and singers. People who had never met were playing songs together beautifully, no egos, shared leadership, give and take… utterly inspiring. The booth was the heart of the Village. It reached beyond the walls to all attendees, not through volume, but through a desire to engage with the company. People flowed from every point of the Village to watch and listen, often crowding the aisles all around.
This is the heart of Corzic Music, providing the best instruments to create amazing music.
I did not think I could be more impressed. Then I went to their store.
Wow.
Corzic Music is not a warehouse. It’s a carefully, thoughtfully designed flow of rooms, each with a theme to make it the most comfortable place to demo instruments. Rooms are dedicated to a purpose: acoustics, acoustics with pickups, electric guitars, keyboard, and more. You can also see the workshop, where guitars are set up, serviced, maintained, and packed/shipped.
It is a place I want to just hang out in, contrasted with just about any other store, where I want to grab what I need and get out.
Every team member is focused on providing customers with the best experience possible. Their focus is on building a relationship, not just a sale.
